Year 7
Students entering Year 7 are excited about finally being 'senior' students. Many students have worked very hard during Year 6 to achieve a senior leader's badge that encourages students to take responsible positions within the school.
Teachers
The teachers on Year 7 are Jane Mullins, Jean Walker and Rob Kolomeitz. Rob has been at the school for the past 18 years and is heavily involved in Primary School Rugby League and athletics at a state level.
Jane has been at the school for three years and has been teaching year 7 in that time. Her interests are maths and ICT. She achieved her ICT Pedagogical Licence last year and is always striving to include ICT in her learning and teaching practices.
Jean Walker has enjoyed teaching The Gap State School children for the past 15 years. She is currently working on developing unit programs that encompass the principles of Middle School, and is also sharing the role of Head of Curriculum with Mrs Hume. Other interests held by Mrs Walker include Sport and Visual Art. Her sport interests include Netball, T-Ball and Softball and her areas of interest in Art are painting and drawing.

Homework
Homework in Year 7 is designed to target specific skills previously taught within the classroom. Homework is expected each day from Monday to Thursday and is based on a homework grid that encompassed English, Maths, Spelling as well as social and interactive activities. Project/Contract work is integrated into the homework and additional assignments are also required from time to time. Such projects in the past have included a health and fitness program, novel studies and a Power Point presentation. Parents are encouraged to monitor student work habits and performance by timing how long they spend on homework each night and signing their work.
