The Gap State School

Year 2

Classes

Students in year 2 build on their basic reading, writing and maths skills, through a variety of hands-on, written and oral activities. They are settled into school routines and are developing their social skills and interactions in the classroom and playground.

Teachers

The year 2 teachers have a variety of teaching experiences between them. Our enthusiastic staff members endeavour to deliver the curriculum through interesting practical hands-on activities and achievable written tasks.

Program

The year 2 program focuses on growth in numeracy and literacy, with daily reading practise and writing practice, the study of numbers to 99, spelling skills and basic number facts. Special areas of study include australian animals, ants, farm animals, fairytales and people who help us. Handwriting progresses toward cursive writing with the introduction of entries and exits.
